MAC OS X Tip:
Probably very obvious to most people, but I’d never used it until today … if you are in the Terminal and want to open the current folder in the Finder, just do "open ."
As for the other way around; Marc Liyanage’s ‘Open Terminal Here’ script seems to be the way to go.

Another option, for opening the terminal at a particular finder window, is to use Quicksilver:- either find the folder you want in QS, then tab and type ‘term’ and choose Go to Directory in Terminal; or make sure the folder you want to open is selected in the finder (or at leat there is nothing selected and the finder window you want is the foremost) and then invoke QS, type “finder” and choose finder selection, TAB, then type ‘term’ and choose Go to Directory in Terminal. NB. You may need some QS plugins for these.
