And I thought putting my music on my computer was a long process….
I have started the process of ripping my DVD collection onto my mac for viewing either on the move (it’s much less battery draining to play a movie off the hard disk than a DVD), or for playing on the TV. Our DVD player can be a little temperamental at times and ideally I’d like to get rid of it (and the video player and digibox).
Down the line I’m thinking that one of the new core-duo mac minis combined with an eyetv receiver (or maybe this one), would be a perfect replacement for all that gear.
Anyway, back to the matter at hand. Ripping the DVDs - using Mac The Ripper and Handbrake. Its very easy and gives good results. Here are my settings:
And that’s all there is to, apart from the waiting roughly 8 hours for it to do it’s thing (on a Powerbook 1.5Ghz).

What about this one?
Miglia TVMini
Thinking about gettin one of these, is HD compatible apparantly so as soon as DVB-T starts transmitting in HD you’ll be able to record at great quality straght off.
If I get it ill let you know how it performs….

Looks good. Be interested to see what the software is like.

Its the same software, both solutions use EyeTV 2.0 by Elgato.
Quite tempted but just a little worried that the signal wont be strong enough in the house for the teeny tiny ariel they supply.
